ACTS OF KINDNESS
Joan Doner, Joplin NALA Read Program Coordinator, accepts a grant at the grand opening of Walmart Neighborhood Market Store #4478 in Joplin, MO.
Joplin NALA Read students pose with the check from the Walmart Community Grant Program awarded from the Neighborhood Market Store #4478. The students hold signs that read "thank you" in their native languages.
Neighborhood Market #4478 recently celebrated their grand opening by investing in the Joplin community. Joplin Neighborhood Adult Literacy Action (NALA) Read received $1200 through the support of store #4478 and the Walmart Community Grant Program. The goal of Joplin NALA Read is to improve the self-sufficiency of families by supporting each adult learner in their effort to increase literacy levels, set and meet goals, and enhance skills as a worker, family member, citizen, and life-long learner – efforts that give people access to a better life. NALA, along with our English as a Second Language (ESL) students, thank Walmart for their part in making our community a better place to live, in enriching the lives of adult students with education, and providing NALA with the resources needed to deliver programs that make a positive impact in our community.
